A Mediter-Asian diet, which combines major elements of both Mediterranean and Asian cuisine. Great Mediterranean choices include fish and seafood, eggs, high-quality full-fat organic Greek yogurts, fresh fruits and veggies and feta/goat cheeses in moderation. Asian aspects of the diet include sushi or sashimi, lots of cooked, grilled or sauteed vegetables, chicken and rice. "All of these foods will fill you up, but lead to weight loss without deprivation. You will feel . . . better overall," Garcia said.
FOODS TO AVOID
"While working out is helpful to maintain body weight and becoming more toned, it is very important that you pay close attention to what you consume," Garcia said. Eliminate items like white breads and pastas, sugary sweets and sodas.
MEAL PLAN FOR A SUMMERTIME SLIMDOWN
For breakfast, eat Greek yogurt with a handful of berries. For lunch, go for grilled salmon with steamed asparagus and broccoli. For dinner, choose chicken breast with quinoa and grilled or steamed vegetables. Snack on hard-boiled eggs, raw nuts and smoothies with berries and superfoods (maca powder, chia seeds, maqui berries).
