After a career of unparalleled success in finishing games, Mariano Rivera stood out before the start of one yesterday. He stood in Monument Park, a few steps from the Yankees’ bullpen, and received a massive standing ovation as his No. 42 officially was retired by his team.

He said goodbye after having walked in from the bullpen, serenaded with a live rendition of his entrance song, “Enter Sandman,” by the group Metallica, which recorded it. MORE
