The Meatpacking District added another swanky lounge to its register — appropriately, during last month’s Fashion Week. And this one is even glitzier than the norm — the decor takes cues from precious metals in the form of gold-, silver- and copper-themed rooms.
The concept: Multiple-levels, multiple experiences. Tzigan is located on the lower level of Villa Pacri — a five-story Meatpacking District building that, upon completion, is designed to mimic an Italian home. Right now, Tzigan and La Gazzetta, the ground-floor Italian restaurant, are open, but future plans include another floor of dining and a rooftop space for al fresco imbibing (check back next summer).
Scene: During Fashion Week, bold-faced names like Courtney Love, Vera Wang, Swizz Beats, Stephanie Pratt and Nicky Hilton swung by the intimate lounge to attend Dom Perignon’s Andy Warhol tribute party. There was also spill-over from Gwen Stefani’s nearby L.A.M.B. after-party.
Serious service: Tzigan’s most VIP clients can rent a shelved box to keep their favorite spirits — which are then stored in crystal carafes from Baccarat, Lalique or Cristallerie Royale de Champagne.
