Queens man faces charges in death of 4-month-old boy
A Queens man faces felony charges in the death Wednesday of a 4-month-old boy, police said.
Detectives arrested and charged Jagsheer Singh, 28, with first-degree assault on a child in the death of an infant, the NYPD said Thursday.
Singh, of 205-40 Brian Crescent, was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Singh was charged in the death of Nevin Jandu, who died Wednesday afternoon at Cohen Children's Medical Center in New Hyde Park.
Police and paramedics rushed to Jandu's home in Bayside about 8 a.m. Wednesday when a 911 call reported he was unconscious and struggling to breathe, NYPD officials said.
The boy was taken by ambulance to Flushing Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. He was taken to the children's hospital, where he was pronounced dead later that day. An autopsy is planned.
