Here’s a little-known fact about me: I work out six days a week, and it’s not something I started doing after I had two kids. I’ve religiously been exercising all my life.
In fact, I don’t even think of exercise as a chore, but rather as an integral part of my daily life: eat breakfast, go for a run. I even rode a horse before heading into the city from the Hamptons today, then took my two dogs for a run while I cycled next to them before a meeting.
I love being active and using the machine that is my body.
Do I want to be known as one of those exercise freaks? No way. Do I want to fit into the clothes that I’ve collected over the years and always feel my best? Yes!
And just like my street threads, my exercise gear has to be well-edited and attractive. I like to find fun yoga mats — the one I’m currently using is from Plank Designs. It’s made from sustainable natural rubber and has a cool snake-in-the-grass design.
I’m obsessed with all the gear that Soul Cycle designs, and I wear Theory tanks to every class. Basically, I mix and match my workout attire according to what looks good and what’s comfortable. I’ll wear anything from American Apparel cotton T-shirts and Nike lycra bike pants to running shorts and Soul Cycle sweats.
I finish the gear with a pair of super-supportive Nike Free TR Fit sneakers or a cool pair of high tops.
I find one of the keys to keeping your body in shape is to wear what suits your lifestyle and what you feel best in. Get fit, look great — that’s my motto.
