My No. 1 fashion rule is that shoes should either be sky-high and smoking hot or flat and feminine.
The other day, I was walking around SoHo and stopped in designer Rebecca Taylor’s store, where I spied Italian-made ballet flats paired with Rebecca’s signature hippie-chic saturated and brightly colored dresses. Of course, I started daydreaming about ‘60s icon Talitha Getty gliding off her yacht in Capri, but my dream was interrupted by reality when I started trying on the shoes.
For spring, French Sole has ballet flats in every shade, leather, patent and colorway possible. Steve Madden has simple black suede flats, and Repetto even made ballet flats in denim — a huge Spring 2011 trend.
So whether you are trendy, addicted to comfort or absolutely feminine, ballet flats are a spring #igottahaveitnow item. Don’t even wait a day to think about buying a pair. They are hot with ripped AG jeans, a flowy Rebecca Taylor dress, or black leggings and your boyfriend’s James Perse delicious cotton tee.
I’ve gotta run and change what I’m wearing.
