Lawrence Taylor won’t be sacked after all for having sex with an underage prostitute.
The Giants great pleaded guilty Thursday to sexual misconduct and patronizing a prostitute, both misdemeanors, in a deal to avoid prison.
The disgraced NFL Hall of Famer faced as many as four years if found guilty of the original charges, including third-degree rape.
Taylor, 51, was accused of having sex with a 16-year-old Bronx runaway in a Rockland County Holiday Inn last May. He confessed to paying her $300, which police said was turned over to a pimp who forced her into prostitution.
Taylor was arrested after the girl mentioned the incident to her uncle in a text message.
“She told me she was 19,” Taylor, reportedly told a judge Thursday.
But not knowing a victim’s age isn’t a viable defense in third-degree rape cases. The age of consent in New York is 17.
Taylor, who lives in Florida, must register as a sex offender and attend a March 22 hearing, where the terms of his probation will be set. His attorney has asked that he be put on probation for six years.
Taylor previously claimed that he was setup and insisted that he never had intercourse with the girl. He also had rejected a deal that would have sent him to prison for six months.
