The boos are about to turn to Youuuuks.
One of Yankee fans' most hated former Red Sox will be trading in his trademark goatee and donning pinstripes, according to reports.
According to Fox Sports, third baseman Kevin Youkilis, 33, agreed to a one-year, $12-million deal, potentially easing the blow of losing injured Alex Rodriguez for roughly the season's first half.
Youkilis appeared in three All-Star games and won two World Series and a Gold Glove at first base in his seven-plus seasons in Boston.
But he's coming off his worst season in the big leagues, hitting just .235 with 19 home runs and 60 RBIs as a member of both the Red Sox and White Sox. He clashed with doomed Boston manager Bobby Valentine at the beginning of last season, struggled with injuries and lost his job to rookie Will Middlebrooks before being traded to Chicago in June.
Youkilis departed Boston a hero because of his work ethic and his no-nonsense attitude. Now, as a Bomber, he's expected to man the hot corner while Rodriguez recovers from hip surgery in the first half of the season.
