While the Marian Gaborik deal made the most noise in the New York market, there was plenty of movement leaguewide before the NHL trading deadline yesterday afternoon. Here’s a look at some other players who will be playing on new teams down the stretch.
The Lightning sent left wing Cory Conacher and a fourth-round draft pick to the Senators in return for goaltender Ben Bishop.
Conacher is second among all rookies with 24 points and has contributed nine goals and 15 assists this season. Bishop helps the Lightning fill the hole left by injured starter Anders Lindback.
The Wild picked up right wing Jason Pominville and a fourth-round pick from the Sabres for prospects Johan Larsson and Matthew Hackett as well as a 2013 first-round pick and 2014 second-round pick. The trade helps both sides as the Wild are primed to make a run in the postseason this year, while the Sabres continue to retool.
The rest of the trades...
-- Left wing Raffi Torres joins the Sharks, while the Coyotes received a 2013 third-round pick.
-- The Flyers acquired goalie Steve Mason from the Blue Jackets for goalie Michael Leighton and a 2015 third-round pick.
-- Defenseman Ryan O’Byrne heads to the Maple Leafs while the Avalanche acquire a 2014 fourth-round pick.
-- The Panthers sent center Jerred Smithson to the Oilers for a fourth-round draft pick.
