Investigators in Beverly Hills on Thursday were trying to piece together information on a murder suspect who reportedly had bragged to neighbors about killing top Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen and shot himself to death Wednesday as police approached to question him.
Police plan to run a ballastics test to see if the gun their “person of interest” used on himself is the same gun used in last month’s gruesome slaying of Chasen, 64.
Neighbors, who only knew the mystery man as “Harold,” said he had boasted about the killing and said he had $10,000 coming in from a job.
“He was like, you know that publicist, I killed her,” neighbor Terry Gilpin, 46, told ABC News.
“He told me several times, ‘If it ever came back down to me going to prison, I would die first,’ ” another neighbor told the Los Angeles Times.
Chasen was shot to death last month in Beverly Hills while driving home after the star-studded premiere of “Burlesque.” Officials said she was shot in the chest and torso multiple times.
TMZ.com yesterday published her will, in which she gave her $6.1 million estate to family and charities.
