Man nabbed in attack at Columbia University



A 28-year-old man was arrested on the Columbia University campus late Saturday night after allegedly attacking a 23-year-old woman, according to police.

The suspect — who fled onto school grounds after the alleged attack — was detained by Columbia security guards, police sources said.

When NYPD officers arrived to arrest him, the suspect allegedly kicked one police officer in the head. The man, identified as Ash Sinha, was found to be emotionally disturbed and taken to Harlem Hospital Center, where he damaged medical equipment, police said. Sinha was charged with assault and criminal mischief yesterday.

The woman, who was not identified, had swelling on her face and cuts on her knees, according to

Columbia University officials declined to comment or say if Columbia students were involved.
