A man fleeing on foot was shot and killed by NYPD officers Wednesday night near a Jamaica bar after he turned and opened fire, police said.

Officers responded about 9:15 p.m. to a call of shots fired at the Hillside Inn at 168th Street near Hillside Avenue, police said. When officers arrived, witnesses pointed out a man they said had fired four to five shots inside the bar.

As officers approached the man, he ran and they gave chase, police said. He then turned and shot at the officers and kept running.

As he turned again toward the officers, they shot him, police said.

The unidentified man was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he died, police said.
