A Manhattan man was indicted Wednesday in a "brutal" subway sex attack on a woman at the Bowery station last month, prosecutors said.

Michael Torres, 29, allegedly pounced on a woman who exited the J train at 12:30 a.m. Feb. 8. He put his arm around her neck as she rode up an escalator and pulled her off, according to the Manhattan District Attorney's office.

He then allegedly threw her onto the subway tracks, pulled her into the tunnel and a found a place between two lines to sodomize her.

Torres was charged in seven counts, including two counts of predatory sexual assault and one count of attempted rape.

"The charges against the defendant are extremely serious," Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. said in a statement.
