A man who neighbors say is mentally ill allegedly stabbed his mother to death and seriously injured his father yesterday before jumping in front of a G train in Brooklyn.
The Windsor Terrace tragedy appeared to be the culmination of a long struggle for the parents with a mentally disturbed son, who neighbors reportedly said was prone to violence and abused drugs.
Cops found a gory scene at 8:15 a.m. outside 21 Howard Place, where Margaret and Raymond Devaney lay bleeding.
Margaret Devaney, 58, who was stabbed in the eye and stomach, was pronounced dead at Methodist Hospital, and her 70-year-old husband, who was slashed in the throat, was in critical but stable condition yesterday.
Their son, identified in published reports as Ryan Devaney, 31, survived his plunge into the path of the Manhattan-bound train at the 15th Street station. He remained in police custody at Lutheran Medical Center last night.
Neighbors painted a disturbing image in reports yesterday of loud fights in the home.
