"This is Spinal Tap" actor Michael McKean is recovering well from a broken leg and other injuries he sustained during a massive car accident Tuesday afternoon, his representatives said.
The 64-year-old star was in stable condition Wednesday with his wife, actress Annette O'Toole, and manager Harriet Sternberg at his side at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital, hospital officials said.
McKean, who has had dozens of comedic roles since the '70s and is starring in "Gore Vidal's The Best Man" on Broadway, was talking and awaiting some test results for his injuries, according to hospital spokesman Jeff Jacomowitz.
It was not clear by press time when he would be released, Jacomowitz said.
The actor was at West 86th Street around 3 p.m. when he was struck by a car that was involved in a multivehicle crash, police said.
Three passengers in two cars were also injured and taken to St. Luke's for minor injuries, according to the authorities.
No criminality was suspected in the collision, police said.
