More than a dozen protesters arrested in Manhattan, NYPD says

More than a dozen people were arrested Saturday night as hundreds of Black Lives Matter protesters marched through Manhattan, the NYPD said.

Protesters marched from City Hall to Union Square to protest police brutality throughout the country, including two fatal shootings by officers this week in Louisiana and Minnesota.

Marchers also protested an off-duty NYPD officer’s fatal shooting of a man during a road rage confrontation in Brooklyn on July 4.

Though the protests had been mostly peaceful through much of Saturday, NYPD officials said more than a dozen people were arrested near Union Square about 10 p.m.
