This week, we’re getting a fresh start with Gary Malin, president of city realty firm Citi Habitats.
Are you an early-tobed, early-to-rise kind of person?
I don’t really have a set schedule in terms of when I go to sleep — it all depends on what’s happening each day. Sometimes I am in bed at 1 a.m., other nights at 10 p.m. However, with two kids and a new puppy, I am definitely an early-to-rise person, like it or not.
What’s the first thing on your mind when you wake up?
Usually, what’s in store for the day ahead. Leading a real estate company in NYC means wearing many hats and dealing with a variety of issues. Sometimes it’s very hectic, but I love what I do.
Do you have a certain routine in the morning?
Every morning, I read a few newspapers, watch a little ESPN to catch up on the late games from the night before, clear out any emails, and have a cup of coffee and breakfast. A few days a week, I hit the gym.
Is there a particular neighborhood in the city that has everything you’d need to jumpstart your day?
Personally, I love SoHo. It has everything I need in close proximity — from restaurants to shops to places to hang out with friends. Plus I really like the neighborhood’s vibe, with the classic cast-iron architecture and cobblestone streets.
