Brooklyn-born Mike Tyson is as unpredictable in his everyday life as he was in the ring.
We asked the 44-year-old Las Vegas resident about what gets him going in the morning and how he kept in shape for his pigeon-racing docudrama, "Taking on Tyson,” which airs Sundays on Animal Planet.
Based on his answers, it’s safe to say that “The Breakfast of Champions” isn’t on the menu for the former heavyweight champ.
Are you a morning person? Yes … You get the best out of me in the morning.
What did you have for breakfast today? I had some cream of wheat. Or, I don't think I had anything for breakfast. [Laughs.] I'll have some soup. Miso soup is being readied to come at lunchtime.
When is bedtime? I go to bed at around 8 o'clock. I wake up around 2 to 4. I work out. I also watch some videotapes ... of me sparring when I was younger. Some sentimental tapes ... In the wee hours of the morning, I might go out and walk around three miles or something.
Do you drink coffee? I never had coffee in my life. … I'll do some drugs, I'll drink some liquor, but I ain't gonna do no coffee. Hell no ... Give me that Hennessey! [Laughs.] Oh gosh, oh man, what a joke.
How did you get in shape for the series? I became a vegan for like two years already.
What do you think of the NYC these days? New York brings up a lot of demons ... My objective is to stay away from anything freedom-threatening and life-threatening … I'm a Vegas knight now; I like Nevada.
