The Bronx Zoo’s lost-then-found Egyptian cobra stole hearts in the Big Apple and became an Internet sensation. Now, @BronxZoosCobra tells amNewYork how life has changed since finding fame.
Q: So, Ms. Cobra, tell me about your mornings.
A: Let’s just say I’m not a morning person, emphasis on morning and person. You do not want to talk to me until I have had my morning coffee. I am seriously hooked on Starbuck’s new Trenta size.
Q: What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
A: After coffee, I check Twitter. I’m kinda addicted. I follow The Bronx Zoo on Twitter @TheBronxZoo. I like to keep REALLY close tabs on them and find out what they are up to at ALL times.
Q: Some people have exercise rituals in the morning — as a snake, what’s yours?
A: Yoga is an important part of my morning ritual. I think it is very important to take care of your body, especially when you are, like, 95 percent body like I am. My favorite pose is of course the Bhujangasana.
Q: Where do you get your morning news?
A: Like most New Yorkers, I have NY1 on almost constantly. I wouldn’t mind taking a non-lethal bite out of that Pat Kiernan. The only paper I read is the fabulous amNewYork. Wait, this interview is for amNewYork, right?
Q: How does it feel waking up in the zoo again after a week on the town?
A: It’s definitely a step down from my night in the penthouse suite at the Hilton New York. But it is nice to see some familiar facesss.
