All that hype and preseason chatter surrounding the Brooklyn Nets is officially on hold for a while.

They came to South Florida on Wednesday night hoping for a solid bounce back against the NBA's defending champion in the aftermath of that tough 107-96 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves two days earlier. But there wasn't much to be giddy about, not after the 103-73 pounding the Miami Heat put on them.

The Nets, who played without injured swingman Gerald Wallace in both losses, have had trouble finishing games. Brooklyn has been outscored in the second half 113-66 over the past two contests.

The Nets' next chance to right the ship comes when they visit the Magic on Friday night. The Magic have been successful on the glass, averaging 44 rebounds per game. The Nets are next to last in the NBA in that category, averaging just 36.7 rebounds per contest.

Brooklyn needs its starting front line of Brook Lopez and Kris Humphries to lift those numbers. Each averages a team-best 6.7 rpg. Orlando counters with Glen Davis and Nikola Vucevic, who average 8.5 and 7.8 rpg, respectively.
