The brutal way the Yankees ended the season doesn’t have some fans feeling very optimistic.

After tanking down the stretch and squandering the division title — and home-field advantage – the Yanks must now head to Minnesota on Wednesday to begin the first-round of the playoffs.

“We had the best record all year, and then in the last two weeks, we choked,” said Jorge Flores, 35, of Queens. “We’re Yankees fans —we don’t take second place.”

The Bombers blew the division title by dropping two of three at Boston over the weekend, including Sunday’s lifeless 8-4 loss.

“You can always count on the Yankees, but they only have one pitcher – CC Sabathia – who has been consistent for them,” said Crystal Ferguson, of Ocean Hill, Brooklyn.

But being the wild card shouldn’t dash fans’ hopes for a repeat championship, said Alex Belth, of BronxBanterBlog.com and editor of the new book, "Lasting Yankee Stadium Memories."

“There are enough wild card teams that have ended up winning the World Series for you not to get overly distressed,” he added.
