New York 1 newsman Pat Kiernan will get his turn in the chair next to ABC's Kelly Ripa as co-host of "Live!" on March 7, according to local reports.
Kiernan and Ripa, who has shared the spotlight with a seemingly endless assortment of personalities since Regis Philbin retired from the syndicated talk show in November, are scheduled to interview another New Yorker, actor Willem Dafoe, who stars in next month's Disney sci-fi adventure "John Carter."
Kiernan, an NY1 morning anchor known for his "In the Papers" segment, recently put out a public plea for donations to keep his "Pat's Papers" website alive. He follows celebs such as Jerry Seinfeld, Rob Lowe, Josh Groban, Cat Deeley and Neil Patrick Harris in the guest chair spot for "Live!" Actor Alec Baldwin - another New Yorker - is slated to guest-host on Wednesday.
"Only a handful of people in the world have my level of expertise in holding up newspapers on camera. Kelly does an admirable job, but I know together we can take it to the next level," Kiernan joked to Gothamist.
