A passer-by pulled the body of a man out of the water at Central Park’s Conservatory Pond on Sunday morning, police said.
The body was found at about 8 a.m., authorities said.
The passer-by, whom police did not identify, “saw the body and dragged it out,” an NYPD spokeswoman said.
By the time police responded to a 911 call, the body had already been removed from the pond, which is in the vicinity of 74th Street and East Drive within the Central Park Precinct, police said.
Police said they discovered an unidentified male, who was unconscious and unresponsive. Emergency Service workers responded and pronounced him dead at the scene.
There were no arrests and the investigation is ongoing. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
