It could be considered a failing grade for Schools Chancellor Cathie Black.
A Marist College poll released yesterday shows that only 17 percent of adults think she’s doing a good or excellent job.
Conversely, 63 percent of respondents think she’s doing a fair or poor job, up from 54 percent in January, according to the poll.
“Chancellor Black is still not on firm footing with New Yorkers,” said Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion. “She’s somewhat better known, but not better graded.”
Since her appointment last year, the former publishing exec has faced criticism for her lack of education background.
A rep for Black, who is now three months into her job, didn’t return a call for comment.
