Tourists were more into Mickey Mouse than the Times Square last year.
Orlando, home of Disney of World, set a new record in 2010 for most visitors to a U.S. city with more than 51 million, Florida officials announced Tuesday.
New York City officials had believed the Big Apple set the record with 48.7 million visitors last year. Since 2002, the city has seen an increase in visitors from 35.2 million.
In January, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the city was on pace to reach his goal of 50 million visitors by 2012.
NYC & Company, which is in charge of marketing and tourism for the city, pointed out that a third of all tourists from overseas come here.
