Old-school “American Idol” fans are in for a treat — former judges Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell are reuniting at the “X Factor” judges’ table.
“This show would never have been the same without Paula, and I can’t believe I am saying this — I have missed her a lot, and I am thrilled she’s on the show,” Cowell said in a statement.
Abdul and fan favorite Cowell worked together as judges on “Idol” for eight seasons before Abdul left in 2009. Simon bid farewell at the end of this past season.
Abdul is “The X Factor’s” fourth judge, joining Cowell, Def Jam president L.A. Reid and British songstress Cheryl Cole (previously a judge on the U.K. version of “X Factor”) on the new Fox show. The show’s co-hosts are former Pussycat Dolls member Nicole Scherzinger and Britsh TV host Steve Jones.
Abdul was present with Cowell, Reid and Cole for the first taped judging session in Los Angeles yesterday.
