NEW YORK (AP) — A police officer shot and wounded a man in the Bronx after he allegedly ignored orders to drop a pair of big kitchen knives.
The police department says the man was hit in the arm and torso, but was in stable condition at Lincoln Hospital.
Authorities say the shooting happened Friday evening after police were called to a high rise apartment complex to deal with a man threatening his neighbors with two large knives.
Police say the officer opened fire when the man advanced toward him carrying a knife in each hand.
The name of the officer and the suspect were not immediately released.
