New York had a huge showing on the list, which ranks the 101 best food trucks in America this year, with 10 hometown trucks making the cut.
Three of the city’s food trucks placed in the top 10, including Red Hook Lobster Truck, Big Gay Ice Cream Truck and the Cinnamon Snail. Other NYC vendors on the list include Schnitzel & Things, Wafels & Dinges, Country Boys/Martinez Taco, Korilla BBQ, Taim Mobile, Souvlaki GR and Luke’s Lobster.
Last year’s victor, Kogi BBQ of Los Angeles, dropped to the No. 2 spot, with Fojol Brothers of Washington D.C. coming in at third. Despite the defeat, Los Angeles still dominates with 16 trucks on the list, the most of any city.
The Daily Meal’s annual survey only included trucks (sorry to all those halal carts out there) and full menu eateries, with few exceptions for dessert-only vendors. The team at the Daily Meal canvassed 33 cities, seeking out around 300 street vendors before deciding on 101 who were judged on critical review, social score and originality.
