What do two Harvard Business School graduates and a fashion director have to do with each other? Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Fleiss dreamed up the company, Rent the Runway, to make every woman feel like she has the closet of Cinderella or maybe even Carrie Bradshaw. The idea is that anyone can be one rental away from having it all.
After enlisting fashion insider Lucy Sykes Rellie as its fashion director two years ago, Rent the Runway has every designer and head-to-toe red carpet style for rent.
But that’s not all that’s up Rent the Runway’s sleeve. The fashion lending company is helping those affected by Superstorm Sandy through a national contest they sponsored to create a Dream Prom. Affected schools submitted themselves to win a blow-out prom, courtesy of Rent the Runway. Out of multiple winners, one was East Rockaway High School North. Five-hundred dresses will be brought to the school for the students’ consideration.
