Rewind: Dive into 'The Middle'

The Middle

The Middle

With all the hullabaloo about ABC’s “Modern Family,” it’s easy to miss the network’s other clever show, “The Middle.” This sitcom about a working-class family living in Middle America is criminally underrated. The great cast features Patricia Heaton (“Everybody Loves Raymond”) and Neil Flynn (“Scrubs) as the struggling parents of three weirdo children. New episodes air Wednesdays on ABC. (Second Season, DVD, $44.98)

Robots in disguise

‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’
The Autobot Transformers are back (unlike star Megan Fox, who was ditched for Rosie Huntington-Whiteley) to fight the evil Decepticons against a backdrop of fiery explosions courtesy of director Michael Bay. (DVD, $29.99; Two-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo, $44.99)

What’s up, doc?

‘The Looney Tunes Show: Season 1, Volume 1’
It’ll never hold up to the original cartoons, but on its own terms, the sitcom version of “The Looney Tunes” is pretty dang funny. (DVD, $14.98)

Horror Redux

‘Mimic: Director’s Cut’
Director Guillermo del Toro (“Pan’s Labyrinth”) finally gets to show his 1997 Manhattan-set horror film the way he wanted. (Blu-ray, $19.99)

Rainbow Unicorns?

‘Adventure Time: My Two Favorite People’
One of the trippiest cartoons around — about a talking dog and a boy going on adventures — gets a collection. How trippy? One of the lead characters is Ladyrainicorn, who is a half rainbow, half unicorn. (DVD, $14.98)

Tune in

‘The Hour’
Don’t miss the BBC’s much-lauded thriller series about a British news program in the 1950s. My boss loved it. (DVD, $34.98; Blu-ray, $39.98)

Telly on DVD

‘Kojack: Season 2’
Who loves ya, baby? (DVD, $44.99)
