DVD & Blu-ray highlights
Sometimes things just fall through the cracks. “Leaves of Grass” (DVD, $28.98; Blu-ray, $29.98) features a stellar cast — Edward Norton (twice!), Keri Russell, Tim Blake Nelson (who also wrote and directed it), Richard Dreyfuss and Susan Sarandon — and a clever and funny story line that is akin to the Coen brothers’ offbeat style of filmmaking. Norton stars as twins, one a professor and the other a drug dealer who gets his bro caught up in one of his criminal schemes. Seek out this gem.
‘How to Train Your Dragon’
This delightful animated movie featuring the voice talent of Jay Baruchel is a fun action-adventure romp with vikings and dragons. It’s not a Pixar film, but it’s damn close in quality. Available Friday. (DVD, $29.99; Blu-ray/DVD combo, $39.99)
‘Wolverine and the X-Men: The Complete Series’
While we’re all still reeling from the substandard (i.e. stinky) third “X-Men” movie, this animated series is a fun action series that should satisfy any mutant maniac. (DVD, $29.98; Blu-ray, $44.99)
Josh Brolin and John Malkovich might be great actors, but there is no redeeming aspect of this startingly awful, seriously dreadful, Western. (DVD, $28.98; Blu-ray, $35.99)
