'Tintin' is truly tremendous
Forget "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" - Steven Spielberg's animated adaptation of Herge's comic-book masterpiece, "The Adventures of Tintin," is the true spiritual sequel to the whimsical action and adventure of the Indiana Jones movies. The film follows the young reporter and his pup Snowy as they help Captain Haddock, the bumbling descendant of a famed seaman, discover his family's treasure while thwarting the Haddock family's long-time foes. (DVD, $29.99; Blu-ray/DVD combo, $44.99; Blu-ray 3-D/Blu-ray/DVD combo, $54.99)

'Young' at heart

'Young Adult'
Director Jason Reitman and screenwriter Diablo Cody ("Juno") reunite for this film about a divorced woman (Charlize Theron) who returns to her hometown to try to hook up with an old beau (Patrick Wilson). Also starring Patton Oswalt. (DVD, $29.99; Blu-ray, $39.99)

Best picture contender

'The Descendants'
George Clooney stars in co-writer and director Alexander Payne's Oscar-winning film about a man who discovers that his wife - who lays dying in a coma - cheated on him. Much like Payne's other films ("Sideways," "About Schmidt"), this is a touching, often funny character study. (DVD, $29.98; Blu-ray, $39.99)

Must-see TV

'The Killing: Season 1'
AMC struck gold again with this procedural about the search for an answer to the question "Who killed killed Rosie Larsen?" (DVD, $39.98; Blu-ray, $49.99)

End of the world

'Melancholia'
Kirsten Dunst stars in the latest from director Lars Von Trier, about a pair of sisters and the end of the world. (DVD, $26.98; Blu-ray, $29.98)

Monroe biopic

'My Week With Marilyn'
Michelle Williams takes on the part of the blonde bombshell in this biopic about her time spent with film student Colin Clark. (DVD, $29.98; Blu-ray/DVD combo, $39.99)
