Rewind: 'Tron' lives up to its 'Legacy'

‘Tron: Legacy’
I remember seeing the original “Tron” as a kid, and it’s not a particularly fond memory. I thought the 1982 film was boring — and with “Tron: Legacy,” I’m kind of feeling the same way. The effects are nice at times and the battles are impressive, but by the end of the movie, I just sorta shrugged my shoulders. It’s OK (fans of Daft Punk, who scored the film, might bump that rating up to “great.”), but there are better action, science-fiction and special effects showcases than “Tron: Legacy.” (DVD, $29.99; Blu-ray/DVD combo, $39.99; Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD combo, $49.99; “Tron: Legacy”/”Tron: The Original Classic” Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD combo, $79.99), “Tron: The Original Classic” (DVD, $29.99; Blu-ray/DVD combo, $39.99)

‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader’
For those still interested in the “Narnia” movies — and based on the box office numbers, not many of you are — the third film adventure is available now. And it’s got a boat! You love boats. (DVD, $29.98; Blu-ray, $39.99)

‘Friday Night Lights: The Fifth Season’
Catch the finale of everyone’s favorite high-school football series. Then, if you’re not ready to say goodbye to the cast, turn to every new show this fall where you’ll likely see “Friday Night Lights” stars Kyle Chandler, Minka Kelly, Taylor Kitsch, Adrianne Palicki … (DVD, $34.98)

‘Little Fockers’
I’m loath to admit it, but the latest installment in the “Meet the Parents” franchise is a step up from the first sequel, “Meet the Fockers,” and it did make me laugh. That said, it’s completely predictable and obvious. Even so, I laughed. (DVD, $29.98; Blu-ray/DVD combo, $39.98)

‘I Love You Phillip Morris’
The 2009 hit Sundance film was left hanging in legal limbo for years, but it finally hits DVD today and it’s definitely worth seeing. Follow the adventures of a gay con man (Jim Carrey) and what he’ll do to be with his beau (Ewan McGregor). (DVD, $27.98; Blu-ray, $39.99)

‘Life Unexpected: The Complete First and Second Season’
Don’t let the title of this set confuse you — the first and second seasons are actually the entire run of this CW series. Which means guaranteed closure in this tale of a girl in foster care who reunites with her parents. (DVD, $59.98)

‘Casino Jack’
Kevin Spacey stars as lobbyist Jack Abramoff in this based-on-a-true-story film. (DVD, $22.98; Blu-ray, $29.99)
