Give independent boutiques (and your credit-card bill) some love this weekend at the deal-heavy Shop Nolita.
More than 40 boutiques in the neighborhood are offering discounts and freebies at the two-day event - spearheaded by Lexi Sacchi, manager of Elizabeth Streetboutique Frock.
A sampling of offers: Frock is taking 10% off merchandise, and 15% off vintage and YSL; jewelry designer Erica Weiner is giving away a free pair of vintage earrings with every $50 purchase; womenswear shop Babel Fair is doling out 15% discounts, and so is wool newbie With & Wessel. Rebecca Taylor, Poppy, Erica Tanov and Patricia Field are also among the participants.
"There's been a very creative entrepreneurial thing going on in Nolita," said Erica Kiang, owner of Babel Fair. "It has a more independent-store atmosphere. A lot of people come down here because they can find unique things."
An added bonus: All buyers get entered into a raffle to win a gift bag filled with merchandise, gift cards and more from area businesses.
So head to Nolita any time Saturday or Sunday, pick up a map (available at participating stores) and get shopping.
