A seemingly cursed exit ramp on the newly renamed Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge yesterday was the site of a second serious accident in as many weeks, police said.
Alexander Palacio, 39, of East Elmhurst, lost control of his Jetta just after 4 a.m. and reportedly slammed into the same beauty salon eerily also struck by a car in last week’s fatal accident.
Palacio, who was charged with driving with a suspended license, was hospitalized in stable condition, said police, who would not confirm a report that the driver lost an arm in the accident.
A 40-year-old woman in the car, who police last night did not identify, suffered severe head trauma and was hospitalized in critical condition, officials said.
The city Department of Transportation didn’t return a call for comment, but told the Daily News that the ramp at Queens Plaza South hasn’t been changed since 2007.
On March 28, a 68-year-old pedestrian was crushed to death when a car coming off the same ramp jumped a curb. The driver, Grant Riddell, 35, lost an arm in the accident.
