Steven Tyler is bowing out of his "American Idol" judging duties, and Jennifer Lopez is likely the next judge to announce her departure from the Fox competition show.

"After some long ... hard ... thoughts ... I've decided it's time for me to let go of my mistress 'American Idol' before she boils my rabbit," the 64-year-old Aerosmith frontman, who judged for two seasons, said in a statement, via Fox, on Thursday afternoon. "I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I'm back."

Meanwhile, it turns out that all the recent chatter about Jennifer Lopez leaving "Idol" next season wasn't just chatter either.

Lopez admitted on NBC's "Today" show Thursday that she is contemplating an exit after two seasons on the judges' panel.

"I am thinking that maybe it's time for me to go and do other things that I really love to do," she told "Today's" Natalie Morales.

Lopez said she only signed on to work on "Idol" for one season, but ended up working on a second season - which was tough considering her busy work schedule as an actress and singer.

"There are so many other things that I do, and that I put on hold for ['Idol']," said Lopez, 42.

Rumors have been swirling that "Idol" executives are trying to shake up the judges' table, and that could mean that Randy Jackson - the only holdover from Season 1 of "Idol" - may also be making an exit.
