Tiger Woods won the Arnold Palmer Invitational for the eighth time Monday at Bay Hill in Orlando, Fla., securing his first No. 1 world ranking since October 2010.
Woods takes over for previously top-ranked Rory McIlroy, who had held the spot since August.
Woods finished 13 under for the tournament, two strokes in front of Justin Rose and recorded his third win of the year. He shot a 2-under 70 in his final round, which spanned two days due to the suspension of play on Sunday.
The delay was due to severe weather that made its way through the area, dumping one and a half inches of rain on the course. Woods completed two holes before play was suspended to take a three-shot lead into Monday’s resumed action.
Woods plays next this weekend at Isleworth for the Travistock Cup before teeing off at Augusta National for the Masters Tournament, beginning April 11.
