The new season of WWE’s “Tough Enough” debuts tonight after “Monday Night Raw” on USA, with new host and former WWE champion “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. The reality series has 14 contestants try to land a coveted spot in the wrestling federation.
amNewYork looks at the Top 5 “Tough Enough” alumni from the first four seasons.
1. The Miz
Season 4 runner-up
Mike “The Miz” Mizanin, who was also on “The Real World,” is a top WWE star and has held eight title belts, including the championship.
2. John Morrison
Won season 3
With his rock-star motif, Morrison has been a popular presence in the WWE going back to 2004 and has held nine title belts.
Won season 1
The first “Tough Enough” winner, Maven had early success in 2001, eliminating the Undertaker from the Royal Rumble in 2002. He won three titles before being released from the WWE in 2005.
4. Skip Sheffield
Season 4 finalist
Sheffield went from being a “Tough Enough” finalist in 2004 to a run on the first season of “WWE NXT” last year. He’s currently out with injury, but looks to have a promising wrestling career.
5. Josh Mathews
Season 1 runner-up
Matthews doesn’t wrestle in the WWE, but he’s been an interviewer, commentator and announcer since 2002.
