Comic books aren't just for nerds anymore; they're for musicians too.

British singer-songwriter Will Knox, 25, who now lives in Brooklyn, recently released a comic book companion to his five-track EP, "Lexicon."

Illustrated by Robin Ha, the book fleshes out the tragic story of a disturbed man battling his demons.

With the comic, Knox woud like to reconnect art and music now that digital releases reduce the need for album art, he said.

Fans can snag a copy, along with a download code for the EP, at his Rockwood Music Hall show Saturday.

Here are other musicians who have released comics:

Coheed and Cambria
'The Amory Wars'
This rock band bases each of its albums on a sci-fi concept created by lead singer Claudio Sanchez, about a couple and their son struggling against a powerful Archmage. Alongside the albums, the band has released graphic novels that tell each chapter of the story.

Art Brut
'Brilliant! Tragic!'
Although indie-rock outfit Art Brut gained fame with its noise-rock songs and crazy live shows, its latest album, "Brilliant! Tragic!", is more introspective. Frontman Eddie Argos also released an accompanying comic book in which artists interpret the album's songs.

Gerard Way
'The Umbrella Academy'

My Chemical Romance broke into the scene with its dark rock opera, "The Black Parade." Co-Founder Way also writes the award-winning superhero comic, "The Umbrella Academy."

Archer Prewitt
'Sof' Boy'
Along with his role as guitarist for the indie group the Sea & Cake, Prewitt also is the cartoonist on "Sof' Boy," which follows a doughy white creature trying to overcome boredom and violence in Chicago.

Tom Morello
'Orchid'
The Rage Against the Machine guitarist is set to write a comic about a prostitute living in a twisted world. With each issue he will release one song as its soundtrack. Issue 1 is due out on Oct. 12.

Comic book anthologies

'Put the Book Back on the Shelf: A Belle and Sebastian Anthology'
Twenty-four writers and artists adapted the songs of this Scottish indie pop band into short comics in this anthology, which spans the group's entire catalogue. Some comics retain a song's original lyrics, while others take more liberty with the tunes.

'Comic Book Tattoo: Tales Inspired by Tori Amos'
This Eisner Award- and Harvey Award-winning anthology features over 50 stories created by artists hand-picked by multi-platinum artist Tori Amos, as well as an introduction by acclaimed artist Neil Gaiman.

'This is a Souvenir: The Songs of Spearmint and Shirley Lee'
This anthology depicts the storytelling songs of British pop group Spearmint and Shirley Lee. The comics mostly focus on love and relationships.

'United and Take Over: Comic Stories Inspired by the Smiths'
This newest anthology, which currently has a November release date, will turn hit songs such as "Girlfriend in a Coma" into four-to-eight-page comic strips that interpret the words, themes or emotions of the songs.

If you go: Will Knox is at Rockwood Music Hall on Saturday at 9 p.m. 196 Allen St., 212-477-4155. FREE with one drink purchase.
