In and out of the squared circle, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has faced off against a number of opponents, from Vin Diesel in "Fast Five" to wrestler CM Punk, who he defeated at the WWE's "Royal Rumble" in January to land the WWE Championship belt.
When The Rock's not defending his title (which he did successfully this past Sunday at the WWE's "Elimination Chamber" event against Punk), he's walking tall in Hollywood, with his latest film, "Snitch," coming out Friday. In the new flick, Johnson plays a father who goes undercover for the government to help them take down some drug dealers in a bid to get his son out of jail.
Listed by WWE.com at 6 feet 5 inches tall and as muscular as ever, the 40-year-old Johnson cuts an imposing figure. Yet Hollywood routinely pits him against some folks that, realistically, shouldn't stand a chance.
amNewYork looks at some of The Rock's movie opponents to see how he'd fare against them in a real fight (of course, spoiler warnings abound here):
While Walken might be able to take The Rock down in a contest of unusual speech patterns, Johnson would destroy the gangly actor.
McDonough has played quite a few tough guys in his career, including gangsters and soldiers, but if he couldn't take down The Rock with an ax in this film, he'd certainly have no chance against him in the real world.
Johnson played (again, spoilers!) a double agent who gets taken down by the bumbling Agent 99 (Carell). Only in a comedy would Carell last more than a minute against The Rock.
Johnson - who joined the franchise for its fifth installment, and will continue on for the sixth, due out in May - got a legitimate sparring partner in Diesel, though it is still not a fair fight. The Rock is bigger, taller and younger, but he would certainly build up a sweat against the action star. Still, unless Diesel channeled the size and metallic body of the Iron Giant, who he voiced in the 1999 film of that title, he, too, would ultimately succumb to the champ.
'Journey 2: The Mysterious Island'
A giant electrical eel
Thankfully, the giant electrical eel in this affable but throwaway family action film was not real, because if it was, there's a good chance that a mythic creature could finally be the opponent that spelled doom for The Rock.
