It's about time.

With women's boxing added as an Olympic sport for the first time ever in the London games, there are no longer any all-male events in the competition.

Though they will only fight in three weight classes - flyweight, lightweight and middleweight - noted lady pugilists like Ireland's Katie Taylor and India's Mary Kom will make history inside the squared circle beginning with the Round of 16 bouts on Aug. 5.

Lightweight Queen Underwood, 28, of Seattle, flyweight Marlen Esparza 22, of Houston, and 17-year-old middleweight Claressa Shields, of Flint, Mich., will be the flag-bearers for the U.S. women's team.
