Jaquan Pate scored 21 points for Babylon in an 88-56 win over North Babylon, the defending Suffolk Class AA champ, Friday in non-league boys basketball. Pate was one of five players in double figures for Babylon (1-1). The others were John Walsh (18), Jack Flanagan (17), Gioncarlo Marotta (16) and Will Dupre (12). Preshod McCoy led North Babylon (0-2) with 18 points.Connetquot 56, Centereach 53: After Centereach rebounded a missed free throw with 20 seconds remaining in the game, Michael Perillo stole the ball to seal the win for Connetquot in the consolation game of the Cougar Classic at Centereach. Kieran McArdle led Connetquot (1-2) with 21 points and five assists. Billy Garzon scored 26 points for Centereach (1-3).
Lindenhurst 53, East Islip 47: Kamil Parzych scored 11 straight points during a 21-16 third quarter for Lindenhurst (3-2), which overcame an 11-point deficit (31-20) in the quarter. Parzych finished with 25 points and seven assists. Rob Balkam hit three three-pointers and finished with 13 points, and Stu Warren added 10 points and 15 rebounds. Connor Cullen led East Islip (1-1) with 19 points.
Calhoun 49, Division 47: Andrew Lief converted a three-point play with 1:30 left in fourth quarter to give Calhoun (3-1) a 46-43 lead, its first since the first quarter. Calhoun's John Wigand blocked three shots in the final possession to preserve the win in the consolation game of the Jeff Shaw Memorial Tournament at MacArthur. Wigand led Calhoun with 18 points and nine rebounds.
New Hyde Park 56, Wheatley 54: Dan Catapano, who finished with eight points and eight assists, hit two free throws with 10 seconds remaining to give New Hyde Park (1-1) a 56-53 lead in the consolation game of the Coaches for Cure Tournament at Sewanhaka. Greg Priest scored 24 points for New Hyde Park. Christian Hyon led Wheatley with 18 points.Great Neck South 62, East Meadow 59: Eric Doreste hit two free throws with six seconds left to give Great Neck South (2-0) a 62-57 lead. Adam Warner hit 1 of 2 free throws to put South ahead 60-56 with 20 seconds left. Drew Muller led South with 19 points. Matt Gundrum scored 22 points for East Meadow.
