President Barack Obama's job approval rating has dropped to 50-42 percent, the lowest level since Inauguration Day, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.
That's down from 57-33 percent on July 2, the poll said.
Peter Brown, assistant director of the Connecticut university's polling institute, told Bloomberg News that Americans are upset about rising unemployment and worried that health-care plans being considered by Congress will increase the federal budget deficit.
In other findings, voters:
Disapprove 49-45 percent of the way Obama is handling the economy.
Approve 52-38 percent of the way he is handling foreign policy.
Disapprove 59-29 percent of the way Republicans in Congress are doing their jobs.
Disapprove 55-35 of the way Democrats in Congress are doing their jobs.
Trust Obama more than Republicans 47-36 percent to fix the economy and 46-37 percent to handle health care.
Approve 55-35 percent of the way Obama is handling race relations.
