Former Hampton Inn manager stole $116G from hotel, police say

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. - Police say they've charged a 50-year-old woman with stealing more than $100,000 from the central New York hotel where she used to work as the general manager.

Officials in the Oneida County town of New Hartford say Donna Houseman used company checks, bank accounts and credit cards for personal expenses while she managed the Hampton Inn & Suites from January 2013 to October 2014.

Police say the thefts totaled $116,000.

Officials say they used a search warrant last month to recover about $5,000 worth of property that Houseman bought at a home improvement store with the hotel's corporate credit card.

The New Hartford resident was charged with grand larceny.

It couldn't immediately be determined if she has a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
