Rich Cribs: Lucky Southampton beach house

What's super surprising is that this 4.3-plus-acre Southampton waterfront estate -- listed this month for $30 million -- wasn't damaged by superstorm Sandy. "It's in a good spot . . . and it's luck of the draw," says Harald Grant, senior vice president and associate broker of Sotheby's International Realty in Southampton, who is marketing the spread.

With about 300 feet of oceanfront, the property has a walkway that extends over the dune and is landscaped with a heated gunite 75-by-40-foot in-ground pool. A guesthouse that abuts the dune has a roof deck with unobstructed ocean views.

The main residence -- about 7,000 square feet -- has five bedrooms, five bathrooms and two half-baths. Amenities include central air-conditioning and a three-car garage.

Although the effects of the storm are still raw, it apparently hasn't scared everyone away from waterfront deals. Grant says a couple of offers already have been made on the property.

DIRTY DOGS WELCOME Muddy boots and paws are no problem at Patricia and Sam Gottesman's farmhouse-style ranch in Matinecock, which is listed for $1.854 million.

The couple have four dogs, including two dachshunds named Nathan and Sabrett. When renovating the house in 2002, their architect suggested putting a new spin on the traditional mud room with the addition of a doggy shower, a large closet for supplies and treats and radiant-heated floors to keep both the two- and four-legged family members comfortable.

"It's good for the dogs with ice and snow on their paws," says Patricia Gottesman.

The 14-room house, built in 1960, has four bedrooms and 31/2 baths. The master bedroom, on the first floor, has one of the home's four fireplaces. French doors lead out from most of the main-floor rooms to the fenced yard, stone wall-enclosed rose garden and a small fruit orchard.

Sandy downed some trees, but the house and orchard specimens were not damaged, says SuziChase, co-listing agent with Anna Rivadeneira of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty. The just-over-2-acre property has an in-ground pool and cabana with another half-bath and a kitchen. Other features include a library-office with loft space, eat-in-kitchen, formal dining room, six skylights, finished basement and detached, three-car garage.--
