NBAIverson's season over

The 76ers have said goodbye to A.I.

Allen Iverson's second stint with the team he led to the 2001 NBA Finals ended yesterday when the 76ers announced he would not return for the rest of the season. Iverson, 34, has mostly been absent from the team for a month, returning to Atlanta to be with his family as they deal with an undisclosed illness of his 4-year-old daughter, Messiah. Iverson, who returned to the 76ers as a free agent in December, has not played since Feb. 20. The former NBA MVP and four-time scoring champion averaged 13.8 points in 28 games.

COLLEGE HOOPS'Nova, Ohio State win

Scottie Reynolds scored all of his 17 points in the second half as No. 9 Villanova (24-5, 13-4 Big East) held off host Cincinnati, 77-73 . . . Jon Diebler hit seven three-pointers for No. 6 Ohio State (24-7 14-4), which clinched at least a share of the Big Ten title by beating visiting Illinois, 73-57.

GOLFDaly's long rap sheet

John Daly has been suspended five times since 1991 and cited 21 times for not giving his best effort, according to a 456-page rap sheet kept by the PGA Tour that became public record because of a libel lawsuit Daly failed to win. The Florida Times-Union reported on Daly's disciplinary file, which the tour had to give Morris Publishing Co. during Daly's libel suit against a former columnist for the newspaper. The lawsuit was dismissed March 29.

NFLPro Bowl back to Hawaii

The Pro Bowl again will be played before the Super Bowl when it returns to Honolulu next year after a one-year stay in South Florida. The Hawaii Tourism Authority and the NFL announced that the game will be Jan. 30, the Sunday before the Super Bowl. - AP
