Krone becomes winningest female jockey

Julie Krone earned her 1,205th career victory at Aqueduct, surpassing Patricia Cooksey's record for most wins by a female jockey. Krone, 24, rode to the record aboard a filly named Squawter in the ninth race. In 2000, she became the first female jockey inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. She was also the first female to win a Triple Crown race when she won atop 13-to-1 shot Colonial Affair in the 1993 Belmont Stakes. Krone, who had retired in 1999, returned in 2003 and became the first woman to win a Breeder's Cup race at the Juvenile Fillies. She finished with 3,704 career wins.
