Some additional tickets are available for the U.S. Open in June, which figures to be one of the hottest tickets of the year. The United States Golf Association announced that tickets are available online for the first round and practice rounds at the Bethpage State Park Black Course.
The Open has been sold out for each of the past 23 years, and the previous Open at the Black, in 2002, was one of the most popular because it was the first at a municipal course.
Tickets for the round on Thursday, June 18 are $100 each and can be obtained at www.usga.org/tickets. Grounds passes for practice rounds June 15-17 are $40 each. A General Grounds pass for all three practice days is $80. Each buyer will be allowed to purchase up to four tickets per day.
Trophy Club passes, which allow ticket holders admission to air conditioned tents for food and beverage service, are $60 each for the practice rounds. An $8 shipping and handling charge will accompany each order.
Fans 12 and younger will be allowed in for free on any day as long as each is accompanied by a paid adult ticket-holder. Anyone between the ages of 13 and 17 can get a reduced rate of $15 for each practice round, $30 for the championship rounds, while accompanied by a paid adult.
Tiger Woods, whose wife gave birth to their second child this week and who reportedly is making major progress in his recovery from knee surgery, is the defending champion of the Open and of the Bethpage Open.
