With Tuesday’s mostly sunny skies and highs of around 50 degrees, an elevated risk for the spread of brush fire continues to around 7 p.m. for northern Nassau County, the National Weather Service said.

That’s because of expected wind gusts of up to 25 mph, drying fuel sources and relative humidity values of 25 to 30 percent, the service said.

Looking ahead,

“there’s a nice little warm up,” said News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman.

Wednesday’s temperatures are expected to reach the low 60s, with highs Thursday around the mid-50s for much of the Island, according to the weather service. There’s a 30 percent chance of showers overnight Thursday, with a 60 percent chance for Friday.
