Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected during the midday hours Friday, followed by cloudy weather in the evening and more rain likely Friday night, forecasters said.

There could be minor coastal flooding Friday night on the South Shore of Nassau County, and there is a small craft advisory from through 2 a.m. Sunday for rough seas from the Fire Island Inlet to Montauk Point, the National Weather Service said.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected again Saturday, and the rain could be heavy at times, before becoming partly cloudy and then sunny later in the day, the weather service said.

“We do have rain in the forecast, but we will also have some dry periods,” News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said.

Sunday should be sunny, but there is a chance of showers in the afternoon, the weather service said.

Daytime temperatures should be in the low to mid-80s through the weekend.

The workweek resumes Monday with sunny skies and a high temperature near 80, the weather service said.
